Update at May 2014

It’s now been six months since we moved to DentalCare Pakuranga.  The move has been quite easy - small issues with the new technology

far outweighed by the positive remarks we’ve had from patients.  Patients are comfortable coming to the new larger premises with better and easier parking.  They like the TV on ceiling, the wooden flooring and the 7am starts on Wednesday and Friday. Importantly, we have blended well with the existing team and patients have enjoyed meeting them.  Apparently we are much happier and “perkier” at the new place.

Patients are also happy that we’ve put money back into our practice with the new equipment.  The Digital OPG Scanner is being used with most patients at the moment as it gives us a very good overview of your mouth and jaws.  We have found wisdom teeth in patients who’d thought they’d had them all out, abscessed teeth, impacted teeth, missing teeth, but in most cases we’ve found nothing, and been able to confirm to our patients that they are dentally fit and well with confidence. It also gives us a very good record of you with minimal radiation, which can be used in the future for comparison purposes.  This move has also made it obvious that computerised records are the best method for keeping your dental record and x-rays.

The new treatment centre is going very well.  It makes providing the best treatment for you much easier.  The new Endodontic module (for doing root canals) works VERY well and this procedure has now become one that I enjoy doing, if necessary.  Our new intraoral camera is simple to use and the high resolution makes it so much easier to see what we’re doing and to show this to you.  Kim loves the way the spitoon moves towards the patient when they rinse - far less mess to clean up than when numb patients missed the spitoon previously. 

Patients find the TV on the ceiling a good distraction and it seems that it doesn’t really matter what’s actually showing on the TV.
